The Key. « Seedbox «

The Key.

Filling the REAL void.

August 26, 2011 // by Diogo Kamioka

Right, so I got an VPS, 1gbps some nice HDD… and recently I’ve got and HDBits invite (TY mksm)…

So, that’s exactly what I need to make a seedbox and boost my Ratio at HDBits.

First things first… just got my box, and installed a couple of things that did not come out of the box… now lets try to make it a seedbox. I’ve never done that before, and I am thinking about documenting it my steps.

So first of all, I did some

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

And after some updating and upgrading, my box was up-to-date!

So after that, I installed some dependencies

 sudo apt-get install subversion libncurses5 libncurses5-dev libsigc++-2.0-dev libcurl4-openssl-dev build-essential screen curl apache2-utils lighttpd lighttpd-doc php5 php5-cgi php5-cli php5-common php5-curl libwww-perl libwww-curl-perl irssi

After that, I found out that maybe just some

sudo apt-get install rtorrent

Would do… but well, I dont think that installing that deps would hurt.. And later in the tutorial I was following, It started to configure rtorrent to work with Lighttpd, but as apache2 was already working in my box, I decided to go that way

Wait, before that I saw that I needed to install ruTorrent, the webui to rTorrent… and I actually find another nice thingy…¬†https://github.com/Voruse/Fangspitzen/wiki

Looks nice, lets try that! Hmmm… it uses aptitude instead of apt-get, well at least I think… lets install it…

sudo apt-get install aptitude

Hmmm after running this Fangspitzen script, it added some repositories to my box… well… lets have some leap of faith here… Ill check it later (or never if it works) well I think it worked kindof… Now I am having some problems using my HTTPS…

I am following the steps here. Apparently it wasnt it… I was trying to run apache2 as a normal user, after sudo’ing, it went well…

Its almost everything done! I can access the ruTorrent WebUI, but now it shows me that the webuser can not access zip/rar… Well, lets try to fix that with

sudo apt-get install zip && sudo apt-get install rar

Well, after that, zip was not showing that error anymore, but rar was still missing, dont know why… But I dont think its necessary…

Lets try to download something!!!!
